Curtis J. Dubinsky
Producer/Director
With an emphasis on light and composition, Curtis Dubinsky brings the brilliance of still photography to motion. Self-taught in photography at the age of 12, Curtis started to freelance in forensic and commercial photography at age 16, shooting for Mazda Motor Corporation and the Al Paul Lefton Agency in New York City.
A BFA honors graduate of the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Curtis also studied graphic design at the Parson’s School of Design, Manhattan, and fashion photography at the New School for Social Research. Working stills in the Philadelphia/New York market, the evolution to motion picture and broadcast video was natural.
In the early 1980's, Curtis spent several years freelancing for Center City Video, Philadelphia, learning the ins and outs of commercial production. In 1984, he established Backyard Productions in Hershey, PA. Projects had him shooting on both coasts for Disney/MGM, Paul Newman – Newman’s Own, and American Black Achievement Awards (interviews with Spike Lee and Redd Foxx).
Backyard Productions, Inc. has grown considerably over the last two decades, boasting complete in-house motion picture, broadcast video and audio production. Curtis continues to combine his creativity, and ability to paint with light and film, with the technical efficiency that the new digital systems have to offer.
